Active ABC (After Breast Cancer) was successfully launched in Glasgow in October 2009.  This is the first city wide exercise service for patients with cancer. Culture and Sport Glasgow, supported by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, has been responsible for providing the marketing materials for Active ABC and appropriate venues in the north south and east of Glasgow.  CanRehab is working with the surgeons, oncologists, breast care nurses, radiographers and chemotherapy nurses to ensure that every woman is informed about the service.  The staff taking the classes are trained to the highest level.  The programme is free to any women within the first year of diagnosis of breast cancer.  Women can be referred by any member of their health care team or can self refer providing they fit the criteria set out in the PARQ application form - for more information please check the Active ABC web site
